JANNAH: Over half a century since overpowering Hindu Zionist forces, supernatural war veterans are still awaiting recognition, it has emerged. Talking exclusively to Khabaristan Times, war veterans expressed their disappointment after yet another Defence Day passed without formal recognition from the state and the Pakistan Armed Forces.
“We are mentioned in school curricula and many books, but our services haven’t been formally acknowledged,” said one of the angels wishing anonymity owing to the sensitivity of the subject. “Our names aren’t included – or accurately at least – and our exact performances haven’t been properly depicted. Most of the narration of events is complete hogwash and a leaf out of various kinds of imaginations.”
The angels claimed that every single one of the divine soldier deserved a Nishan-e-Haider. “Because technically we all left the world after the job was done,” said the commander of the 1965 war’s angel battalion. “They haven’t given any of us even the Tamgha-e-Khidmat.”
The war veterans believe one of the reasons why their efforts haven’t been formally recognised is because the commemoration of the 1965 war on September 6 is called ‘Defence Day’.
“It should be called ‘Had-to-Defend-After-the-Attack-Failed-Day’” another senior war veteran said. “And once they do that they’d realise how we angels saved their backsides. In fact it is our assertion that 1965 war was a stalemate and not a victory, which is why we still haven’t received the medals.”
The angels are of the opinion that events could’ve played out differently had they been consulted earlier. “Operation Gibraltar was always going to fail since the Kashmiris would never have bought the plan,” the commander reiterated. “Operation Grand Slam was as lazily executed as lazily as it was named.”
However, despite the lack of medals, the angels still claim there are no hard feelings. “None of us got awards for the Battle of Badr, or any of the battles that we have fought since, either” the angel war historian revealed. “And that’s fine. What irks us the most is the lack of fact based reportage. Almost all our stories have been plagiarised from Badr.”
